The BP Portrait Award is a great chance to see some exceptional pieces of artwork. The annual exhibition is held at the National Portrait Gallery (just around the corner from the National Gallery, as if walking towards Leicester Square). Some of the pieces are examples of ‘super real’ photo-realistic paintings but it tends to be that the paintings with a bit more freedom and roughness are the ones which catch my imagination. This excellent work was one of my favourites. I highly recommend a visit.
