Another sketch from the Portugal trip. Braga’s Estadio Municipal designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura is one of the most beautiful football stadiums. Mainly because of the setting (perched on a hillside quarry) and the brutal simplicity of its design. Points to note about the stadium is that there are only two stands. Behind the goals are empty leaving nothing but the shear rock face. Also the roof is inspired by Peruvian rope bridges. It’s a stadium that photographs well too, so I recommend investigating further.
