I’m captivated by L’Menage au Monolithe not only due to its fitful composition but its range of colour inspired pseudo-textures. Forms appear and morph through the painting yet the eye is instantly drawn to the brightly coloured scars in the vellum. This dialogue reminds me of the work of someone I knew; an artist, and friend, who would paint in a similar fashion (I use the word ‘similar’ with a pinch of salt because although there’s a likeness the two can’t really be compared). Sadly she doesn’t speak with me anymore yet I’m sure she is developing into an increasingly creative artist and interior designer. I wish we could still exchange opinions on art and design. Alas…
